Keeping Elderly Warm(3) – Knees

Because there is not much muscle and fat to protect the knee from cold and breezes, our knees are very sensitive to drop in temperature and cold. Besides, in autumn and winter time, low temperature slows down blood flow so that pressure in knee joints increases and leads to pain and swallow, which further prohibits exercising and falls into vicious cycle.

Because of this, elderly especially those suffered from knee joint diseases and arthritis must be very cautious in keeping their knees warm. Other than wearing thick trousers, have a blanket covering lap and knees while seated (especially for elderly on wheelchairs) can keep knees warm and improve blood circulations
